A Loving Tribute

Today we had to say goodbye to Filly, our 33 year old mare.  She was the Matriarch of D&F Pack Station, and more recently, Queen of our newly sanctioned Happy Acres Equine Sanctuary.  Filly suffered a stroke yesterday.  We treated her immediately but today it became apparent that it was time to let her go.  With the kind help of Dr. Daniel Heistand, we said our tearful goodbyes.  Filly's legacy lives on at D&F with two of her offspring, Billy and Dandy. We are sad to lose her, but are proud to know that she led such a long, healthy and productive life.  We will miss you Filly, but we know that you are once again kicking up your heels and being the boss of ALL the herds.

Winding Down...

The summer went so quickly!  Hopefully we will add more photos to the gallery this year.  We had every intention of updating the journal throughout the summer, but fun got in the way!  So, instead we will leave you with a picture of our last pack trip of the season.  A full service trip to both Dinkey and Kaiser Wildernesses.  I'm not sure who had more fun, our guests or our wranglers.  Book a trip for next year, and come ride with us!

Gearing Up!

We hit a rare by Memorial Day! We have a great group this year and we are looking forward to a fun season. Missing from this picture: Morgan "Hollywood" Austin, who is busy with graduation duties, and wrangler-in-training Gavin Barry who will be here in July. Our horses and cowboys are ready, so come on up and ride with us!

On Saturday we began bringing the stock up to the Pack Station. We should be finished by Tuesday. After acclimating to the 6000' change in elevation and a visit from the vet, everyone should be ready for the new season. We hope to have limited rides available by Memorial Day. Come on up and ride with us!

We drove up to Huntingon to see how Mother Nature treated us over the winter. Everything looked great and we can't wait for the season to begin. If all goes well, we will be open by Memorial Weekend! Come on up and ride with us!
